HOW TO REALLY SUCCEED AT JUST ABOUT ANYTHING

“Not everyone who does a thing knows how to succeed at it. There is a how to do (productivity) that is far more different than just merely doing (activity). Success comes from knowing the difference between the two.”
I guess it’s been a little while since we last discussed lol. Pardon me as I have been busy working and learning what it takes to succeed on a new “part time business” I recently just involved myself in.
In this edition of the Quality Life Newsletter (LIFE NUGGETS – Capsules for quality living) I won’t be continuing with our previous discussion on “How to work so you can get the kind of results you want”. Rather, permit me to talk about something else which quite relates to our former discussion. Nevertheless, I would still finish up on where we left off the previous time on subsequent edition. THANKS!
So what’s more important than learning how to work so you can get the kind of results you want? The answer is what this edition of the newsletter is all about. Much more than work, succeeding at what we work on is critical to living a life with meaning (Quality Life). Everyone can start a business, but how many make it as successful entrepreneurs? Everyone can start a family, but how many make it as successful parents? Everyone can survive on earth, but how many live a quality life? Have you ever wondered why two people involved in the same activity, task, occupation, vocation, work or profession achieve different results? Have you ever wondered why two kids from the same parent raised in the same home often grow up with different outcomes in life? Ever wondered why two companies established on the same business model accomplish varying tasks? What does it take to really succeed at just about anything? The answer to all these and many more are what I intend to unfold in this capsule of LIFE NUGGETS.
Here we go!
QUESTION: What does it take to succeed at just about anything? The answer is very simple and also found in the question itself.
ANSWER: To succeed at just about anything, learn how to succeed at just about anything!
There you go. Simple as ABC. Nothing more, nothing else. You cannot succeed at doing any particular thing if you never took the time to learn how success is achieved or attained in that particular field, area or sphere of life. It’s so obvious many people don’t see it. How else do you intend to succeed at doing a thing you never knew how to do successfully? What you must understand is that ‘doing a thing’ and ‘doing a thing successfully’ is not one and the same thing! Both require knowledge, but of different kinds. The kind of knowledge that equips you ‘to do’ is quite different by a large extent from the kind of knowledge that equips you ‘to successfully do’. A lot of people wander through life never gaining the full understanding of this simple truth about success. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is no other than this; ‘those who succeed learn how to do things successfully while those who don’t only learn how to do things’. For success to really happen, there have to be an element of success in your preparation. That element of success is the patience to learn how to do whatever it is you need to do successfully. ‘To do’ and to ‘to do successfully’ are not one and the same thing. Your success begins the day you discover and understand this difference.
Many of us when we desire to do a thing simply dabble into the exact process of getting that thing done. Often times than we would want to accept, we never take out the time to learn how to do what we desire to do successfully. At most, we are only patient enough to learn the skills needed to do that thing and with that, we go ahead into the very act of doing itself. Seldom do we take the extra care and put in the extra time to learn not just the skills needed to get the work done, but also the skills needed to successfully get the work done. The skills needed to perform a particular task, activity, profession or vocation are not one and the same with that needed to achieve success on that particular task, activity, profession or vocation. Knowing this difference is what differentiates winners from losers, success from failures and greatness from mediocrity. Your task in life is not to only learn ‘how to do’ (activity) but to also learn ‘how to successfully do’ (productivity).
With this, we come to the end of this edition of LIFE NUGGETS – Capsules for quality living – A newsletter of the Quality Life group. I hope the time spent reading this was worth the while? And much more than that, I hope you won’t be selfish with what you’ve just learnt? Do the world a favour and share this with all the people in your life! Print it out, copy and paste, send via email, and invite them to also be a part of the group. Do whatever it takes to be a blessing to someone with this message. And most importantly, learn how to do whatever it takes to be a blessing to someone with this message SUCCESSFULLY!
